Silk Washing Instructions

How do I wash silk?

A fine and delicate product requires a little more attention during washing than other materials. To ensure the quality of your silk products, it is important to wash them correctly. They are of course far too valuable and fragile to tolerate anything less!

Here are all the tips and tricks to care for your silk products in the best possible way:

Essential before we begin:

  • A laundry bag
  • Liquid, pH-neutral detergent

Washing in washing machine:

When washing silk in the washing machine, choose a delicate wash program and make sure to use low temperatures. It is best to avoid using regular detergent, use one that is specially formulated for gentle washing of silk such as pH neutral detergent.

Hand washing:

When hand washing silk, it is important to rinse it thoroughly and gently dry it with a clean towel. Avoid soaking silk as this can lead to stains, color bleeding or discoloration.

How to dry silk:

After washing, hang it to dry – silk MUST NOT go in the dryer! You can gently iron it inside out with an iron set to silk. If you don't have this function, a hand steamer can also be a good solution.

How often should you wash a silk pillowcase?
